McInnes Manufacturing Ltd. began in 1989 when Diane and I were dairy farming on our 150 cow farm in Northland, New Zealand. We were not satisfied with the performance of calf feeding equipment that was available at that time, and as I had had draughting experience, I designed a feeding system for our own use. The design criteria that we set were: The benefits and results from using the calf feeders were so great that we decided to make them available to all farmers in New Zealand. We exhibited the Milk Bar 5 for the first time at the New Zealand National Fieldays in 1990, where we won a design award. The response from fellow farmers to the Milk Bar 5 was overwhelming as, like us, many were not satisfied with the performance of the calf feeding equipment available at the time, and could see the benefits of the Milk Bar system. Encouraged by this response we developed new ideas and products and began to market and sell the Milk Bar Products at Agricultural Fieldays and retail outlets throughout New Zealand. We have now expanded to other parts of the world. Milk Bar Products have been manufactured in Australia since 1992, in Chile since 1994, and U.S.A. and Korea since 1996. We also distribute to most other agricultural countries.
